Born in Quebec City, Carl Mayotte is a bassist and composer recognized for his virtuosity, sense of groove, and boundless musical approach. Moving between jazz, fusion, rock, and Latin music, he quickly carved out a prominent place in the Quebec jazz scene thanks to his distinctive sound. Since 2018, he has performed with the jazz fusion group ‘Carl Mayotte Quintet,’ with whom he has played in Quebec, across Canada, and in France. Winner of a Félix Award for Jazz Album of the Year in 2022 and named Radio-Canada Jazz Revelation, he has five albums to his name, including his most recent, set to be released in March 2026. His projects highlight compositions rich in rhythmic and harmonic complexity.
