History of the Festival
In 1994, during a jazz show at Jardins de la République (now Parc provincial de la République), a group of artists asked the audience if they’d like to have a festival of the genre, to introduce local people to this musical style and allow fans to enjoy it. The audience was unanimous: they wanted a festival.
In 1995, the very first edition of the Edmundston Jazz and Blues Festival took place.
The Edmundston Jazz and Blues Festival is a non-profit organization whose objectives are to develop, organize, promote, sponsor and encourage concerts and music events, particularly those related to the known music genre. Our festival is a family festival for all ages.
Our vision is to make our programming accessible to as many people in our community as possible. We therefore include in our program visits to nursing homes, schools, the regional hospital and local shops. We also try to include musical entertainment for preschoolers such as daycares and kindergartens.
