Jazz & Blues History
In 1994, during a jazz show at the Jardins de la République (now the Parc provincial de la République), a group of artists asked the public if they would like to have a festival to introduce this musical style to the people of the region and to allow the fans to enjoy it. The public was unanimous, they wanted a festival.
Therefore, the very first edition of the Edmundston Jazz and Blues Festival was held in 1995. The Edmundston Jazz and Blues Festival is a non-profit organization whose objectives are to develop, organize, promote, sponsor, and encourage concerts and music events, particularly those related to the genre of music known as “jazz and blues”. Our festival is a family festival that caters to all ages. Our vision is to make our programming accessible to as many people as possible in our community. For that reason, we include in our programming visits to nursing homes, schools, the regional hospital, and surrounding businesses. We also try to include musical entertainment for preschoolers such as daycares and kindergartens.
