Edmundston, March 1st 2021 - After noumerous discussions, and especially after listening to the recommendations of our governments, as well as the Public Health Department since the start of the COVID-19 crisis, the Jazz Festival's organizating committee announces today its decision concerning the holding of the 2021 edition which was to be held this coming June.

It is with heavy hearts that the Board of Directors announces that the 2021 edition of the festival shall be postponed for another year. Like in 2020, the committee reluctantly opted for this decision primarily out of concern for the well-being of the population, but also to do its part in the fight against Covid-19.

Several reasons led the organizers to take such a decision. First, the uncertainty of planning in advance for an event that might occur only if our region returns to the yellow health level was a major factor in the decision-making process. Second, the organizing committee had major issues in creating an event that would bring external food trucks to our community when our local restaurants are struggling to survive this health crisis.

The Board takes this opportunity to thank our local businesses, partners and volunteers and want to encourage them as much as possible. Together, in a collective effort, Edmundston will come out stronger. The Chair of the Edmundston Jazz / Blues and Rib Festival, Mélanie Ruest, emphasizes that the committee will take advantage of this downtime to improve and bonify its programming for 2022. “Stay informed via our Facebook page since we’re not saying that we won’t be organizing some activities/fund raisers to entertain the citizens of the greater Edmundston area and help cover the fixed costs of our organization. Several ideas are currently being evaluated, stay tuned! "

The Edmundston Jazz / Blues and Ribfest Festival has only been postponed, we will be back in June 2022.
